This project originally launched before there were any existing open data portals in Detroit. One year after launching, Data Driven Detroit published an open data portal and another year later the City of Detroit kicked off their Government Open Data Access To All (GO DATA) initiative and open data portal.
In recent years, the open data ecosystem has contracted and sharing and collaboration have fallen out of vogue, so we relaunched in the hopes to create an agnostic platform to keep pushing for openness and collaboration.
Detroit Data is a coalition of groups sharing data and building tools to improve information access. The work is governed by a Community Advisory Board.
