I volunteered to help MICHUHCAN update its website, and quickly came on board as their Communications Director with my first project being to update their brand and logo. The original logo was a faded sunrise behind blue text. The only available image file was very small and unworkable on different media.
My initial idea was to update the sunrise and add Michigan into the image since the organization is focused on access to quality and affordable health care in the mitten state. The Board was less interested in changing the sunrise since that was their most iconic piece. With feedback on keeping the sunrise and colors. I made a number of drafts with a final logo brightening the colors and defining the organization’s focus on Michigan.
Subsequent efforts to revamp the organizations website and social media engagement significantly increased visitors and the profile of the organization. With the support of the Board, I spearheaded a major statewide media effort to push for expansion of Medicaid in Michigan. The campaign garnered state and national attention with viral content and storytelling.
