Our data team shifted focus quickly in early 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic spread. We pivoted our data efforts to take on mapping risk and vulnerability in order to direct early resources and then used the information to inform our mobile testing and vaccination strategy.
I developed novel methods for identifying vulnerable areas and provided weekly map updates as case rates changed by pulling all ZIP and community level cases into a database. This included some manual data entry for county health departments reporting by PDF and some utilization of APIs to grab regularly updated data at weekly time points.
